A look inside 2020’s most in-demand visual effect.

I’ve been messing around with a fun effect recently. Basically, you chop out bits of a a photo and animate them individually. The result can be a cool way of spicing up a video — you can create really complex (and seemingly impossible) camera moves, and it works for content across many different genres.

I’ve been using it a lot in music promo edits lately, like this:
