Yung Filly’s Celeb Lock-In

Produced by BBC Three
Available on BBC iPlayer
Directed by Anthony Rubinstein

Throughout Spring and early Summer 2020, I worked with BBC Three to develop and direct a lockdown-friendly gameshow format for a 3-part BBC iPlayer series.

The show sees host Yung Filly challenging teams across the country to compete in silly and entertaining games from their own living rooms, while he spectates from his control centre in a London studio. Additionally, each episode featured a celebrity guest to oversee the fun. Over the series we hosted Love Island 2019 stars Jordan, Michael and Chris, Eastenders’ Maisie Smith, Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and celeb power couple Wayne and Frankie Bridge.

In essence, the challenge was to turn a zoom call quiz into something as dynamic and exciting as possible. We spent a lot of time decorating and enhancing UGC footage supplied by the contributors and experimented with a range of camera techniques, such as 360 footage and FPV drones. It was all blended together with a neon 1980s pop colour palette.

Below is a supercut of highlights from the four episodes, which are available on BBC iPlayer until August 2021. I’ve also written a more in-depth blog post about the whole production if you’d like to find out some more.
